How to choose a Cosmetic Surgeon--- Questions You should ask.
Hair Removal What, if any, board certifications does the doctor have? Dr. Tarrant is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and The Royal College of Surgeons (Canada). He is an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Medical Association. How long has the doctor been performing this procedure? Dr. Tarrant has been in the active practice of plastic surgery since 1971 and has an extensive background in all aspects of cosmetic surgery. In addition, he has broad experience in the surgical correction of congenital anomalies, hand surgery, burn therapy, facial injury, and general care of difficult wounds. Can you look at typical "before" and "after" photos? You will have the opportunity to view many photographs during your consultation. These patients have all had surgery by Dr. Tarrant, and have given written permission for their photographs to be used for these purpose.

Can you speak with an actual patient who had this procedure done? Many patients wish to preserve their privacy concerning cosmetic surgery. We honor that desire. I do have a few patients who have undergone surgery of most types of cosmetic procedures who have graciously consented to speak about their experience with those who are considering similar surgery. Does the office offer financing? Our office offers Visa and MasterCard for your convenience. In addition, after your consultation, we can give you information on an additional source of financing. Who will perform the surgery and all the postoperative care? Dr. Tarrant sees each patient for consultation. He performs each procedure himself and post operative care is given by him and one of the two R.N.s on staff at Tarrant Plastic Surgery, Inc. What about your Postoperative care? When you decide to have a cosmetic procedure done it is very important to realize what can and what cannot be done. By educating yourself on the particular procedure you are considering, you will have a better idea of the limits and possibilities available. To think that by coming in for surgery you'll walk out a model is unrealistic. By being realistic in your expectations there will not be any disappointment. If you're hoping for a miracle it won't happen. It's far better to ask exactly what you can expect then to assume how it will turn out. However, from my experience most patients are quite happy and excited with their results. They will come back after having procedures done and tell me how much more confident they feel and more self-assured. Remember, cosmetic surgery is a very personal decision and nobody can make the choice for you. I hope I've given some valuable information that will assist you in making the right choice.
